10 Places to Visit in Boca

Boca Raton has plenty of things to see that don’t involve the mall or beach. If you want to go for a nice change of pace and visit from culturally rich spots, you should check these out. And, okay yes, you can also go shopping at some of them.

1. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

Gumbo Limbo is an environmental center that teaches visitors about marine and coastal life. They specialize in sea turtle preservation, where they aid the turtles with care and research. You can participate in different events they host, and you can even volunteer to help out.

2. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

Founded by Japanese farmers in the early 20th century, this museum’s goal is to teach you about Japanese rich culture. Besides the beautiful gardens you can walk around in, Morikami offers a variety of attractions like festivals and delicious cuisine.

3. Boca Raton Historical Society

You might think you know everything there is about our sunny city, but what about its past? Luckily, we have a museum for that. The Historical Society will offer you a history lesson on Boca via many different and interesting exhibits. Stop by at Town Hall to check it out.

People in Boca love to eat organically (which may be a stereotype, I know, but stay with me), but finding a place that sells healthy food that is actually as good for you as it claims can be a hassle. The GreenMarket is open every Saturday at Royal Palm Place, and provides you with tons of fresh produce for all your delicious needs.

5. Boca Raton Public Library

Libraries are definitely not everyone’s thing. But two of Boca’s gorgeous libraries, one on Spanish River and the other downtown, are amazing buildings that offer a host of special events. You can even get married at the Spanish River location. There’s also, you know, the books. Those are pretty great.

If you’re more of the outdoors type, you could always check out this lovely park. South County has an amphitheater, picnic areas, a dog park, playgrounds, and different sports grounds that range from basketball courts to a golf course. It even has one of the best indoor water park resorts and you can get water skiing lessons there! What better way to spend a day in the great outdoors is there?

While it may not be as educational as the other numbers on this list, you won’t be bored by spending an afternoon here even though your wallet may weep.

If you’re running out of ways to entertain your kids that doesn’t include placing them in front of a TV, why not take them to the Children’s Museum? It has many different exhibits for children to play in and interact with one another. You can host birthday parties or schedule large group tours as well.
