One Rushed to Hospital After House Fire

By Jason Schwartz

One person was injured when fire broke out in a house in suburban Boca Raton recently, Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue said.

The injured resident was rushed to West Boca Medical Center after the fire, which broke out at about 1 p.m. Monday in the Boca Winds subdivision south of Palmetto Park Road, said Capt. Albert Borroto, Fire-Rescue spokesman.

Arriving crews found heavy black smoke and flames coming from the side of the two-story home in the 22000 block of Altona Drive, Borroto said.

The fire began in a bedroom and firefighters quickly brought it under control.

Three occupants and a pet were outside the home when crews arrived. One of them suffered injuries and was taken for treatment, Borroto said.
