15 reasons why the TSA’s Instagram will leave you speechless
By: Kristen Altus
The Transportation Security Administration may be overcautious sometimes, but what they do keeps us safe, and their Instagram account goes to prove just that. The TSA posts pictures of items people try (but thankfully fail) to bring on planes, and the results leave us relieved that those items didn’t make it to departure.
1. Loaded guns
The TSA has confiscated about 1,100 guns in carry-on bags this year alone, and most of them were loaded!
2. Swiss Army phone case?
Careful, don’t cut your fingers while texting.
3. Grenade inside a stuffed penguin
Poor little guy…
4. 80 pounds of marijuana
Really? 80 pounds? And you thought no one would notice?
5. A hatchet
Sorry to break it to you, but there aren’t any trees you can chop 38,000 feet in the air.
6. Hollowed-out book with throwing knives
Maybe they’re training to be a ninja. Still not a good enough excuse.
7. Bullet and gun knife
You won’t get away with disguising a knife as a gun. Or a bullet. All of those things won’t make it through security.
8. Samurai sword
Hi-yah! Or so you thought.
9. Hollowed-out book with narcotics
You can’t study from a textbook with squares of pages missing.
10. Improvised Explosive Device training kit
Nope. Nope. All the nopes.
11. Meat cleaver
Sorry sir, but butchering meat is prohibited on this flight.
12. Ninja stars
Throwing things + moving transportation = NOT OK.
13. Batarangs
You’ll have to leave those behind, “Batman”.
14. Medieval weapon thing
They still make those?
15. Serpent cane sword
The TSA reports that cane swords are discovered on a weekly basis. This one probably belonged to Lucius Malfoy.
