MPO approves I-95 resurfacing in Delray, Boynton, says Abrams

WEST PALM BEACH — County Commissioner Steven L. Abrams, who serves as a board member of the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), has announced the recent approval of an I-95 resurfacing project between Delray Beach and Boynton Beach.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has allocated more than $5 million for this effort, and will be hiring local contractors to perform the work.

“This is a good example of bringing home state tax money to benefit our community,” said Abrams.  “FDOT will be hiring local contractors to perform this necessary maintenance work and no local tax money is required,” he added.

The 6.8 miles of resurfacing will take place on northbound I-95 from south of Linton Boulevard to south of Boynton Beach Boulevard  The project is scheduled to begin around May 2011 and be completed by September 2011.

FDOT said the work will be done at night to minimize the impact on local traffic.
