BOCA RATON – In honor of IBM and “Big Blue’s” 100th birthday, the Boca Raton Historical Society is joining with IBM Boca Raton in an exhibition entitled “IBM Boca Raton: A Centennial Celebration.”
The display will look back at the amazing contributions of the local office since coming to Boca Raton in 1967. IBM Boca Raton is legend in the computer community; it was in Boca Raton in 1981 that the IBM Personal Computer was developed and introduced to the world. Not the first or the smartest microcomputer, the IBM Personal Computer became the leading platform that literally transformed daily life worldwide.
The exhibition will be set up at the Boca Raton Historical Society in the Old Town Hall, 71 North Federal Highway, and runs from June 13 to July 8. There will be historic photographs and videos, functioning vintage computers (the PC and its descendents), demonstrations and lectures.

I am a retired IBMer and I am very interested in IBM’s 100 Anniversary celebration. Please keep me informed on the events that are taking place. I live in Ft. Lauderdale and worked for IBM for 30 years. I was an IBM service representative and retired in Ft. Lauderdale as a Techinical Support Specialitst. I was very happy to see something in the newspaper to celebrate IBM and the important part they played in changing technology in the world. Please keep me informed about any up coming events.
Sincerely, Peter J. Sheridan, Jr.
