BOCA RATON —  It’s been a long time coming.

For a decade, Boca Helping Hands has been growing, but operating out of multiple locations, making expansion of programs difficult.

Today, the agency that aids needy people with food, financial help and job training, have moved into its new quarters at 1500 NW 1st Court.that it purchased last year and totally renovated.

The facility is called the Remillard Family Resource Center in honor of Arthur J. Remillard Jr., a longtime supporter of BHH.

Dignitaries and residents turned out earlier this month for a VIP inaugural preview party at the center.

Boca Helping Hands Executive Director Linda Gove said the new state of the art facility “will bring all BHH programs under one roof.  It made me very proud to be able to show the tangible results of all of our hard work.  We are excited at the possibilities this new facility allows.”

Arthur J. Remillard Jr., the namesake for the building, addressed the crowd that evening and spoke of the good works Boca Helping Hands has done. He also encouraged others to make a financial contribution to the organization.

Also at the podium that night were Board President Gary Peters, Executive Director Gove and board member Pattie Damron.  All spoke of the previous accomplishments and the extensive program growth that can be expected.

The Remillard Family Resource Center boasts a larger food center with a professional kitchen, a job mentoring pavilion with 12 new computers donated by IBM and private rooms for interviewing clients, among other features. For a tour of the new facility, call Brooke at 561-417-0913 or e-mail brooke@bocahelpinghands.org.

At the inaugural, BHH announced it will hold its fourth annual Monopoly Event and Casino Game Night April 17. It is a fundraiser for Boca Helping Hands.

The Jan. 15 preview event was the first to be chaired by the new auxiliary of Boca Helping Hands- “Heart and Spirit”.  The executive committee of Heart and Spirit includes Pattie Damron, Peggy Jones, Terry Rosen, Ann Bocock, Dorothy Einstein, LouAnn Such, Rich Johnson and Elizabeth Pankey-Warren.

I have got to say, politics and religion bring out the best and also the the bad side in people. The best because both can result in folk being unbelievably helpful, the bad side as both can lead to unbelievably mulish and difficult behaviour. I am not pointing a finger at you, this comments just made me see this, so thankyou for that.
