Boca CERT members recognized for outstanding work

BOCA RATON — Boca Raton Fire Rescue Community Emergency Response Team held its semi-annual CERT meeting at 6500 Congress Avenue.
Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Joseph was on hand to present an award for CERT member of the Year to Burt Goodman. Burt has been a member of CERT for over 5 years. He is a supporter and spokesperson for the CERT program and has also taken on the role as a team leader in his community.
CERT members train throughout the year on a variety of fire and medical related topics. CERT members are trained to be a useful resource during disaster emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and terrorism, when conventional emergency services are unavailable. CERT members are also utilized at various events throughout the City of Boca Raton.
