Palm Beach County’s foreclosure statistics for June 2014 shows an improvement. Last year, for the first six months of 2013, 6,454 new foreclosure cases were filed compared to this year’s 3,199 cases showing a 50.4 percent decrease.

This decrease in filings is a trend continuing within the past few months as well with 548 cases this May and only 497 this June. “The first six months of 2014 were the lowest number of new foreclosure case filings since the first six months of 2006,” said Clerk Sharon Bock.

A small decrease, one noted as not significant according to Clerk Bock, in the mortgages and deeds recorded in Palm Beach County was also recorded from last year to this year and between the previous couple of months.

“Our case filings are stable. While it is good to keep an eye on foreclosure case filings, the numbers that I believe are just as important to watch are the number of deeds and mortgages recorded with our office. Those numbers were down in June, but not to a significant degree,” said Bock.
