By: Marissa Obstbaum

Lighthouse Point native, Joseph Grosso died on July 30,2014 during a lobster fishing trip in Pompano Beach.

The 22 year old was diving off of a professional dive boat, Scubatyme, in about 40 feet of water when the incident occurred.

Grosso and his brother were diving for lobster, when Joseph ran out of oxygen from his scuba tank and floated to the surface unconscious.

Paramedics attempted to revive the young man through CPR with no avail. He later passed away after being rushed to Broward Health North.

Grosso, a Penn State grad, was planning on attending the University of Miami Law School and playing for their football team. He also attended Pope John Paul II high school.

Coast guards use this time to remind divers to follow the rules and guidelines of lobster diving and to do so with extreme caution.
