Available Space or Fully-Leased? The Long-Standing Signage Issue in Boca Comes to Light

photo (7)After several months of careful investigation, which began in January of this year, the Boca Raton Tribune will have a story about the issues of irregularly placed ‘For Lease/Rent’ signs around the city. For a number of years now, many businesses have been violating Municipal Code by erecting in front of their buildings, signs indicating vacancies for rent or lease, where, in reality, there are none. The signs in discussion are not only violating city code by falsely advertising available rental/lease spaces, but are also posing as billboards, which is strictly prohibited, according to city regulations. For the purpose of accuracy, our reporters have gone through the major roads in the city to count and photograph said signs.
The investigation of this issue led to contacts with city representatives, as well as Neal Realty & Investments, Inc., the real estate company responsible for the sign discussed, as the first of many more scattered throughout the city. Although some parties responded to our calls and emails, most still have not presented a satisfactory argument or explanation for these continued violations, that have been long overlooked by those responsible for enforcing the law.
As a community newspaper, the Boca Raton Tribune is committed to bringing awareness and information to its readers about problems that affect all the residents of our city.
As part of this commitment, the ongoing investigation about these signs will continue until a resolution is attained.
