A 22-year-old Boca Raton man was arrested and charged after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and an elderly relative, authorities said.

Palm Bach County sheriff’s deputies charged Jacob Belleme of the Boca Falls community, west of the city, with one count of battery on a person 65 or older and a second count of simple battery touch or strike.

He was later released from the county jail on a $3,000 bond.

Deputies were called to the home shortly after 11 p.m. on Rockledge Circle when Belleme got into an argument with his girlfriend, according to the arrest report.

Belleme allegedly threw her down on the floor and struck her when she tried to leave, according to the report.

The couple had been arguing after the girlfriend took a knife from Belleme and hid it after he threatened to cut himself, deputies said.

A woman, who saw the incident, attempted to call 911, but Belleme grabbed the phone, broke it and threw her to the floor, according to the report. The woman, thought to be his grandmother, suffered a small cut her on leg when it hit a metal bed frame.

Deputies had to use two sets of double-locked handcuffs because of Belleme’s size, according to the report.
