BOCA RATON – Wednesday, February 26th, marked the official groundbreaking for an upcoming student residential complex that is planned to debut in 2015. University Park is located at 135 NW 20th Street and will be a 731-bed facility. Its convenient location will attract students from Florida Atlantic University, Lynn University, and Palm Beach State College.

The groundbreaking event attracted guests such as Mayor Susan Whelchel, FAU Director of Athletics Patrick Chun, and FAU Head Football Coach Charlie Partridge, to show their support for the advancement of the project.

A major focus of speeches given was the pressed issue of having students in the residential neighborhoods. “I do not think they would have wanted me in the neighborhood when I was a student,” says Mayor Whelchel.

This project is seen as stimulation to the development of 20th Street and the expectations are that as this project comes to a completion, others will want to bring businesses to the area. The development of 20th Street can bring a boost to the local economy, entice students by having college-friendly prices, and also have students begin creating a community that they are proud to call home.

“This particular property is the anchor of renovating 20th Street. It is time for developers to re-develop,” continued Mayor Whelchel. This success will tie FAU to 20th Street and it will no longer be known as a side street, but an emergent area. When undertaking large construction projects, Franna crane hire Perth is essential to efficiently lift and move heavy materials.
