Kenneth A. Day – Airport Manager of the Boca Raton Airport Passed Away

Boca Raton, Florida,-Kenneth A. Day, Airport Manager of the Boca Raton Airport for the past thirteen years, passed away on June 16, 2013.

Ken was admired by all who knew him, especially his staff. He managed the airport with a keen intellect and a sense of humor. During his tenure as Airport Manager, he increased the airport’s capital reserves to a significant level, brought approximately $23 Million of capital improvements to the airport, and developed the airport into a nationally recognized first class general aviation airport, based on industry standards throughout the country.Kenneth A. Mr. Day was well recognized by his staff as a leader who lead with humor, kindness, loyalty and respect. Janet Sherr, Director of Landside Operations said, “He will always be remembered for his integrity, and passion in which he managed the airport.”

Franklin D. Feiler, Chair of the Airport Authority, stated that “Ken was a remarkable individual who knew his role and performed at the highest level any executive could deliver in running such a large and complex operation. As a key player in the South Florida transportation grid, his expertise will certainly be missed by the entire Airport industry where he devoted nearly 25 years of employment.”

The Ken Day Scholarship Fund is being established to award an annual scholarship to an aviation student in need. A Celebration to honor Mr. Day’s life will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Signature Flight Support located at 3300 Airport Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431. All are welcome to attend this commemoration and tribute to him.
