Domestic Dispute Turns Violent

Boca Raton, FL – On Monday, April 16 at 25 minutes after midnight, Boca Raton Police officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 7200 block of NE 8th Drive.

Arriving officers met with the 39 year old victim, who was bleeding profusely from his hand and James Lane, who had a cut on his forehead. Both men told officers that when they returned home from a night out, they got into a verbal dispute that quickly became physical when the victim tried to leave. The two men struggled over the car keys in the driveway, until the victim broke free and returned to the house, locking the door behind him. Lane went to a neighbor’s house for assistance finding the keys, which were thrown during the struggle. The neighbor went to the home and was allowed inside by the victim.

As the neighbor was inside the kitchen speaking to the victim, Lane came into the kitchen, picked up a butcher knife and attacked the victim, saying he was going to kill him. The victim fell when attacked and sustained several cuts on his hands and arms. The neighbor witnessed the attack and ran out of the house.

The victim was transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. Detectives arrested Lane and charged him with attempted felony murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
