Commissioner Abrams says county to get $100,000 to increase border patrol along coast

County Commissioner Steven L. Abrams has announced that the county has successfully procured funding through the Homeland Security Grant program to be used to increase border patrol presence along Palm Beach County’s coastline.

The grant for $100,000 requires no local match or tax dollars.

“This money will provide additional security for our community, especially along our coastline, a large portion of which I represent,” said Abrams.

These funds were made available through Operation Stonegarden to assist local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in their ongoing efforts in securing local borders.  More specifically, the money received will be used for overtime to provide additional patrols associated with crime suppression operations and intercepting those who have illegally crossed the county’s borders.
