West Boca Medical names new director of surgical services

BOCA RATON — West Boca Medical Center has announced the appointment of Zofia Gianelli as the hospital’s new director of Surgical Services.

In her new role, Gianelli will oversee the daily operations and management of West Boca Medical Center’s extensive list of surgical services in a variety of specialties and subspecialties.

“West Boca Medical Center is dedicated to providing some of the latest and advanced surgical technology and procedures, and we are confident that Zofia Gianelli will lead us in continuing to advance the level of surgical services we provide to Palm Beach County,” said Mitch Feldman, West Boca Medical Center chief executive officer.

Gianelli has been employed at West Boca Medical Center since 1995, when she started her career at the hospital as a registered nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. She was then promoted to assistant nurse manager of the unit and later, clinical manager of the Perioperative Department.

She has 28 years of clinical nursing experience and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the School of Nursing in Jaslo, Poland.

West Boca Medical Center’s surgical services include orthopedics; adult and pediatric general surgery; adult and pediatric otolaryngology; urology; ophthalmology; cosmetic surgery; gynecology and more.

West Boca was one of the first hospitals in Palm Beach County to offer the da Vinci Surgical System, a robotic surgical technology that can be utilized to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures for a range of specialties.  Robotic surgery can offer significant benefits such as reduced bleeding and pain, and faster recovery.

Some minimally invasive procedures are even performed in the hospital’s Outpatient Surgery Center, where many patients can have surgery and return home the very same day.

West Boca Medical Center, part of Tenet South Florida, is a 195-bed acute care hospital located at 21644 State Road 7 in Boca Raton.  It has been serving the medical and healthcare needs of the community and surrounding areas for over 20 years.
